All Over teh Internets

Filed under: nerd shit — giles @ 8:45AM

OK fam, I’m kind of not that good with technology (ayo), but that don’t stop me from trying. I went into my website’s stats to see what people are searching for when they end up at gilesli.com and most of the results are not surprising. “Giles Li” seems to be a common one, as does “Beats Rhymes and Rice” and some other usual suspects…but there are a few search terms on the list, that I just don’t know how they led to my page at all. Read on to be amazed. Or mildly confused maybe.

asians have no soul
When I enter these words into Google, not only do I find my site, but also Dandiggity and Oliver Wang. I have to wonder was someone looking for a mention of this opinion because they wanted some proof? I shudder to think it was a self-loathing Asian person, because if s/he found his/her way to my website…there may already be no hope left. I seem to inspire more self-loathing among the self-loathers. Moving on…

nationality of mike lowell red sox
So, what, no Wikipedia? In case the seeker of this information has been regularly revisiting this site in hopes I would address this question one day, here it is (as copied from Wikipedia): Michael Averett Lowell (born February 24, 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican Major League Baseball third baseman born in Puerto Rico of Cuban descent as well as a cancer survivor.

See? He’s Puerto Rican three times! But he’s of Cuban descent.

nerd shit
…yeah. That’s about right.

scottie nguyen tila tequila
That is somewhat surprising, because why was someone looking for these two at the same time? I can think of many reasons why someone might want to look up Scotty Nguyen online, and I can think of even more reasons someone might look up Tila Tequila, and none of those reasons are remotely the same.

what do rappers mean when they say grey poupon
This shit is hilarious. Not that they ended up here on my site, but that someone was asking the Internets for the answer to this question. I can understand it I suppose, because those Grey Poupon commercials were at least 15 years ago, and off the top of my head, I can think of many emcees who have referenced it: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Phonte, T.I., Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killah, Jim Jones, Big Daddy Kane…holy crap. Hey hip hop, maybe it’s time to retire this one.

5 year old who cries too easily
Surprise surprise. I actually was a 5 year-old who cried too easily. I was kind of a lonely kid with self-esteem issues and a stutter. That’s why growing up I had a need for everyone to like me, but nobody did, so as I became an adult, I developed a need for everyone to dislike me, and that’s been working out great. Fuckers.

my girlfriend is a gold digger
I’m assuming that this young man or woman was looking for some advice on how to deal with a gold digging girlfriend. I’ll say this: maybe she’s not a gold digger, but maybe you’ve set up an expectation yourself that the only way you can communicate care for another person is monetarily, and if that’s the case, you need to take a good long look in the mirror and figure out how you can relate to people in a way that doesn’t place a dollar value on emotions. This is difficult to do in our life and times because our society wants to assign monetary value to everything, from the price of drinking clean water to the price of breathing clean air; the price of not being harassed on your way to work, the price of faster police response to emergencies, the price of quality medical care. The fact that we can buy and sell these things is ridiculous. Think about how ridiculous it is that if you had a lot of money, you can buy up all this land that could easily give other less fortunate people a place to live, but you need a circular driveway to park your goddamn SUV.

Sorry, way off track there. Bad experiences come back to haunt you…

sorry you suck giles li

  1. I don’t believe that last query. That’s a lie! Nobody would put that query in. Or maybe they are talking about another giles li.

  3. i think “sorry you suck giles li” is someone trying to find the column “sorry you suck” and remembering that it’s “giles li” who wrote it.

it’s just unfortunate that it was in that order.

  4. is grey poupon still around? i remember people parodying that all the time, doing the “roll down your window” motion to random cars at stoplights.
